"GREAT RATES"

Adequate, fair and appropriately simple or complex rates. It's a simple concept with difficult math. That's where we come in.

Most of our clients are cities and districts that want to get great rates proactively. But a few are parties involved in a lawsuit or dispute over rates - a bad rates situation gone awry.

We calculate rates by starting with the process described in the AWWA M1 Manual; Principles of Water Rates, Fees and Charges. We don't stop at calculating rates that are in a "cost-to-serve" structure at the rate class level. We go all the way to the ratepayer level - ratepayers pay the bills, rate classes do not. And then, if you need some rate or fee variant, once we have the model built, we can calculate just about anything.

You may be located in one of the states with a "RATES Program." Click the drop down menu above to learn about those programs. If you're in one of those states, getting rate analysis is easier, surer and even more economical than usual.

There is a lot to know about rate analysis, proper rate setting and many things related. Some of these you should just leave up to your rate analyst. But some are critical for you to know. To start learning those things, click the "Freebies" link and start reading. Especially have a look at the "Rate Setting Best Practices Guide," the newest addition to those resources. Everything in the Freebies locker is, well, free.

When it is time to talk about a rate analysis for your system or systems, just call to get the process started. On the phone we will scope your project in 20-30 minutes, figure out, first of all, if you need analysis (most systems do) and if so, send you a proposal like this.

If you have us proceed, we will get you into great rates just as soon as we can.

If you want to do some research first, do one or several of these things:

You can skip all of the above and also get a 25 percent discount on fees if your system is served by one of the Rural Water Association RATES Programs listed to the left.
